The terms "progress, improve, enhance" are found in the typical vocabulary of athletes and inventors – and for this reason it is no surprise that the creative, engineering mind behind the TQ120S drive system has equal enthusiasm for both topics.
The inventor – an interview with Toni Rossberger
When the topic is two-wheel transportation, it is not easy to put one over on the engineer and motocross stunt man Toni Rossberger. He invented the patented pin ring transmission.
Question: Toni Rossberger, how did you come up with the idea for your pin ring transmission?
T. Rossberger: I have been riding motocross since I was four. Even as a child, I was fascinated by engines and everything involved with that. Everything that makes people faster using technology is my passion. As a result, the trip from an engine to the e-drive was a short one.
Question: So what motivated you in developing the new technology?
T. Rossberger: My requirement was that e-mobility of the present had to be technically efficient, functional, of very high quality and visually appealing. We succeeded in all this with the TQ120S.
Question: Where did you get your enthusiasm for e-bikes and electronic drive types?
T. Rossberger: Right now, they are the most exciting, quietest and most environmentally compatible mode of transportation – and they have a continuously growing fan community in metropolitan areas while also being used in sports and during leisure time. Since they also provide big advantages for service companies and commerce, I am certain that this market will grow quickly.

TQ120S – power in a small space
The secret of the small power pack lies in the combination of the patented TQ pin ring transmission with the electric motor developed especially for e-bikes. Unique: With 120 newton meters of torque, the TQ120S is in a class by itself. Together with a diameter of only 144 mm, it is also so compact that it can be easily integrated into any bike. The drive system assists full-suspension mountain bikes with complex pivoting of the chainstay as well as cargo-carrying bicycles with a great amount of space needed for attachments – or even bicycles with stringent design requirements.
